South London local infrastructure organisations have been recognised for the quality of work supporting local voluntary and community organisations.
Community Links Bromley have become the sixth and final member of the South London CVS Partnership to receive the NAVCA Quality Award which includes Community Links Bromley and organisations in Richmond, Kingston, Croydon, Merton and Sutton. Read more.

Over thirty people came to find out how to complete the application form and prepare to make a strong application for a Grassroots Grant of up to £5,000. Cathy Togher, the Programme Manager for the Grassroots Grants fund, delivered a comprehensive, section-by-section, presentation to 36 attendees to encourage quality applications from eligible Bromley VCOs. As part of our celebrations to mark Volunteer Week 2010, The Volunteer Centre students from Orpington College have created a truly inspiring video looking at the difference young volunteers make. The ten minute film has had 23 views since Monday. This consultation event with Bromley Police was held on Tuesday 18 May from 9.30am - 3pm at Ripley Arts Centre. 60 people attended the event from a wide range of disability, minority ethnic and other community groups. This event, delivered in partnership with Bromley Council and Community Links Bromley, was especially for anyone running a social enterprise or thinking about starting one in the borough. ‘Not Just for Profit?’ took place at Community House in South Street, Bromley, on Tuesday 30 March, between 9.30am and 2.30pm. It was very well attended - 45 local community groups and two individuals representing local forums.

This event, held on 25th February was very well attended.
Hosted by the Children and Families Voluntary Sector Forum and CLB, the morning session concentrated on how commissioning works in Children and Young People’s services. The afternoon provided a further opportunity for discussions around commissioning processes in Adult and Community Services. The closing panel discussion provided opportunity for delegates' questions, with a great deal of interest in the new commissioning opportunities in the area of aids for daily living.

Bromley Council, in partnership with Community Links Bromley, is organising an event especially for anyone running a social enterprise or thinking about starting one in the borough.
‘Not Just for Profit?’ is a free event, which will take place at Community House in South Street, Bromley, on Tuesday 30 March, between 9.30am and 2.30pm. Booking is essential.
The agenda for the day will include:
Short talks from expert speakers from organisations such as Social Enterprise London and Business Link in London and the Social Investment Business on key topics – including what makes a successful social enterprise, obtaining funding and marketing strategies.
A panel session to give delegates an opportunity to put questions to the experts.
An exhibition of support providers and social lenders
Book-able one-to-one advice sessions
Refreshments and a networking lunch
‘Not Just for Profit?’ will be of interest to people already operating or starting social enterprises, but also those in the voluntary and charitable sector looking to access new sources of income, and entrepreneurs looking to ‘put something back’ into the community.

CLB are delighted to host jointly this exciting commissioning event for the third sector in Bromley.
This event will provide delegates with an opportunity to hear more about the strategic overview of commissioning within London Borough Bromley's Adult & Community Services. It will also help voluntary sector organisations learn about commissioning developments and the impact that Supporting Independence will have on commissioning.
The workshops after lunch will facilitate two-way dialogue on a number of topics such as monitoring, quality evaluation and tender processes ensuring that voluntary sector views are captured. Feedback from the workshops can be taken to the final Panel session, which will be chaired by Lorna Blackwood Interim Assistant Director, Commissioning & Partnerships, ACS, LBB.

CLB's national library of live news feeds is back on-line.
The Commission for the Compact has issued a draft “refreshed” Compact for consultation. The Compact is the agreement between the government and the voluntary and community sector on partnership and mutual obligations. It was signed in 1998 and the new revised (or refreshed as they say) draft takes account of the changes in how government and third sector work together.
