Guide to the national minimum wage with regard to volunteers and voluntary workers

Volunteers and voluntary workers are two separate categories of people for national minimum wage (NMW) purposes.
Volunteers are not workers, and so are not entitled to be paid the NMW. Voluntary workers are workers however they are exempt from the NMW entitlement provided certain conditions are met.
