Media Trust partner with The Sun to find raw, undiscovered talent.
Media Trust and The Sun have come together to launch Column Idol 2011, a competition fronted by music star Jessie J.
The competition, now in its second year, offers 18-25 year olds the chance to be mentored by top journalists – with one lucky winner getting the chance to have their column printed in The Sun.
"This is a fantastic chance for anyone who likes writing and has an opinion. Young people are always saying that they want to be heard, and this is an opportunity for them to step up and do it!” Jessie J, Column Idol spokesperson.
Six writers will be shortlisted and mentored by top journalists from The Sun who will help them polish their ideas and support them as they write their columns.
Those shortlisted will present their columns to a high-profile judging panel including The Sun’s Editor Dominic Mohan and columnist Jane Moore. The final winner will receive the prize of having their column printed in the newspaper in September 2011.back to top

The telephone is the primary means of communication in many businesses. It is generally how the majority of people get their image of your organisation
This half day seminar will show you phone skills that you can put to use immediately - whether you work at a help desk, on a switchboard or in an office with no defined answering policy. It will benefit anyone who uses the telephone, at any level, whether dealing with customers, suppliers, debtors or clients. Telephone communication skills will build positive and lasting relationships with your customers and clients. They can then be potential ambassadors for your product and services, however poor communication will lose you customers and will ruin your reputation.

The response to the free “Top 10 ways to increase participation seminar” (featured in e-news bulletin 115) has been great. However the feedback from some participants was the trip to London did make up for a two-hour seminar
So, to help those people access the content , the seminar is now available online. You can access it as seven individual lessons – each about 5-15 minutes long. If you sign up, then you will receive one of these a day for seven days.
