National ChangeUp

ChangeUp is the Government's framework for building capacity and infrastructure of the voluntary and community sector so that we can meet the needs of frontline organisations by 2014.

This is being done by building support which is "available nationally, structured for maximum efficiency, offering excellent provision which is accessible to all while reflecting and promoting diversity, and is sustainably funded".

There is ?142 million funding for the programme which will last till 2007/8.

A large portion of the funding has been spent on setting up a network of knowledge hubs across the country to promote and support best practice in:

  1. Performance improvement - including quality standards
  2. Workforce development - skills strategies
  3. ICT - web-based information service and telephone helpline
  4. Governance - increasing number of skilled trustees
  5. Volunteering - commonly-branded local volunteering infrastructure
  6. Financing voluntary sector activity - improved access to public funding, income generation skills.

A new programme of national support is being introduced. The Hubs will be replaced, from April 2008, with a new programme of national support services.

CapacityBuilders - is the agency responsible for managing ChangeUp funds and developing the new national support services.

CLB will keep you posted about our new Bromley ChangeUp plan, as well as changes to the national support services.
