Building a Better Bromley 2020 Vision
On June 5, a consultation event was held jointly by Bromley Council and Community Links Bromley as part of the Local Strategic Partnership to debate the future of the borough. It was attended by over 60 representatives from the voluntary and community sector. The draft strategy was also available on the Council website for public review and input. The views given will help shape the Council’s ‘Building a Better Bromley 2020 Vision’. The consultation focused specifically on four themes:
- Making Bromley a cleaner, greener and safer place to live
- Helping Bromley residents to be healthy and independent
- Making Bromley a prosperous and thriving borough
- Helping Bromley’s children and young people achieve their potential
- In addition it explored how to increase participation in regular volunteering.
Likely future challenges facing the borough include an ageing population, the role of technology, economic fluctuations, and the pressures on the housing markets.
The Leader of the Council and Chairman of the Local Strategic Partnership, Councillor Stephen Carr said in his opening remarks, "We have been moving forward on our Building a Better Bromley agenda for a number of years. Now we need to look further into the future, and we want you and the groups you represent to be part of the shaping of that future."
