ࡱ> DFC` ` bjbj 4$:"666J8JfJ+*******$-hh/N*-6sss**!!!sR6*!s*!!'"6) `l#(I*<*0+(/@/4)/6)L6!,1B**^+ssssJJJN JJJN JJJ Employment manual section 7 - Time off 7c Compassionate and dependant leave policy This document was drafted by Wendy Blake Ranken, author of the NCVO publication the good Employment guide Employees are entitled to up to five days paid leave in a 12 month period for any personal reason that falls into the following categories: To care for a sick dependant for whom the employee is responsible To deal with a domestic emergency To deal with the death of a close family member To deal with temporary disruption of care arrangements To deal with an incident involving a child at school It is anticipated that in most circumstances, time off will not be for more than one or two days, in order to deal with the immediate situation and make necessary longer term arrangements. However, in cases of bereavement, employees may wish or need to take more time off. After the first five days of leave, further days may be granted, but such days will normally be unpaid, or employees may take annual leave, flexitime or time off in lieu. When an employee needs to take compassionate or dependent leave, it may not always be possible to contact [ORGANISATION NAME] in advance of the time when the employee is due to start work. If this is not possible, the employee should notify his or her line manager as soon as is reasonably possible on the first day of his or her leave. Note that if employees work part time, the five days leave will be pro-rated to the individuals working hours.
