Civilian Flying in Wartime

Thursday 06 July 2023
14:30 to 16:00

Tony Francis will describe how civilian aviation and airlines (in particular BOAC) in the Second World War functioned, along with the support they gave to military operations. Links across the World were maintained, often in, to say the least, challenging and dangerous conditions. Some interesting passengers were carried!

And if your journey was really, really necessary, indeed absolutely essential, then an aeroplane was there to take you.”
