Creative Words with Theresa Lola - London Festival of Architecture

Saturday 17 June 2023
14:00 to 16:00

Join poet Theresa Lola to get creative with words during this relaxed event in Crystal Palace Park.

Public parks are designed to boost our physical and emotional wellbeing, and in this session, you will learn how to use creative words to express how your body feels when you spend time in the park.

The afternoon will focus on a statue at the top of the park known locally as Hollow Woman. Over the years she has experienced changes to her body, for many different reasons, some due to vandalism. A public park does not always feel like a safe place, this session will focus on bringing Hollow Woman to life to explore and imagine how she feels about her body in the park. There will be collective creative responses, both light-hearted and empowering exploring links to your own life.

Theresa was named the 2019–2020 Young People’s Laureate for London, only the third young UK poet given the honour.

All ages welcome, no experience needed
