Broom Day – Bromley Civic Society
Saturday 03 May 2025
10:00 to 16:00
Bromley Civic Society, along with the Friends of Bromley Parks and Gardens are planning a ‘Broom Day’ celebration on Saturday 3rd May.
Bromley (formerly ‘Broomleag’) gets its name from the profusion of broom that flowered on Martin’s Hill. The broom had all but disappeared by the 1980’s but it has revived and in recent years there has been a spectacular display of yellow flowers across the hillside.
Bromley Civic Society are seeking to revive the Broom Day celebrations with an annual event.
There will be an Exhibition in the main display area on the ground floor of The Glades and everyone is invited to join them on a Walk to the Broom on Martin’s Hill. Dress up in green and yellow and get decorated with sprigs of broom (or something yellow) wherever possible. Children welcome!
